Chaminade and CBC fought for the chance to win an MCC title on Friday night. In the end, Chaminade was able to put together a complete performance in route to a 72-64 victory.
National recruit Tarris Reed scored 28 points and patrolled the paint. His size and skill in the mid to low post is very tough to match up against at the high school level. He’s powerful with his back to the basket but also can step out and hit the three which he did in this game. Damien Mayo Jr. was another major performer. The 6’1 combo guard had 3 putbacks in the first half, one of which was a putback slam. His activity and willingness to do whatever it takes to win is evident.
As for CBC, Rob Martin was a bright spot for the Cadets. He was a playmaker all night and did his best to keep the team in the game all night. In the first half, he had some excellent passes off drives to the basket. In the second half, he became more assertive and finished with 19 points and 6 assists in total. Division 1 football recruit, Chevalier Brenson, made major contributions alongside Martin. He had some key baskets and was an anchor on the glass. Brenson is a well-rounded player who goes to battle for coach Justin Tatum every night.
