The first half of the St. Louis Metro Area High School basketball season has been full of excitement. We take a quick look at 2 freshman hoopers that are making a statement at the varsity level.
6’4″ Jayden Nicholson from Hazelwood Central
6’5″ Macaleab Rich from East St. Louis
Both hoopers are skilled, athletic and have college bodies already.
Jayden is a smooth 2/3 type that likes to attack the basketball and lure defenders out on the perimeter where he can break them down or hit from deep. He’s not afraid to challenge at the rim on either end.
We thought Macaleab would be more of a role player to Lashawn Johnson and Armond Williams, but Macaleab has stepped up huge this year for the Flyers. He led his team in points and rebounds in their latest win over Normandy. Macaleab his strong and bouncy — he finishes so well at the rim as he has superb body control as he attacks.
These 2 could be the next two studs to come from the St. Louis area.
